Paper Presentation at IEEE NOMS 2012
Brian Meskill, a TSSG PhD student working in the FAME strategic research cluster recently presented a paper at the 2012 IEEE/IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium (NOMS 2012) in Hawaii, USA. NOMS is the IEEE and IFIP’s premier conference in network operations and management and explores the hottest areas of information and communications technology.
The paper presents Brians work on revenue maximising server selection and admission control for IPTV Content Servers which is conducted under the supervision of Dr Brendan Jennings and Dr Alan Davy. This work looks at efficiently using the resources of an IPTV Content Provider to maximise the revenue generated whilst ensuring important Quality of Service (QoS) targets are satisfied.

IEEE EASE Conference Invited Talk
The 9th International Conference on Engineering Autonomous and Autonomic Systems (EASE) was recently held in Novi Sad, Serbia at the Park Hotel (11th-13th April). Dr. Steven Davy was invited to give a talk on the topic of Autonomic Communications to this highly multi-disciplinary conference. His talk focused on the motivation for new techniques in the management of Future Internet and that autonomic principles, such as those explored in the FAME SRC, can be profitably applied.

Conference presentation at AINA 2012
Annie Ibrahim Rana recently presented her conference paper at the 26th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications (AINA-2012), which was held at the Fukuoka Institute of Technology (FIT), Fukuoka, Japan, March 26-29, 2012.
AINA is one of the most important international conferences sponsored by the TCDP of the IEEE Computer Society. AINA-2012 was held in Fukuoka on March 26, 2012. The conference covered theory, design and application of computer networks and distributed computing and information systems. Aside from the regular presentations, the conference included keynote addresses with speakers from both industry and academia. There were also more than 20 workshops in conjunction with conference.

Overall Best Paper Award – CCNC 2012
Cristian Olariu presented at the 9th IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC 2012). The conference was held from Jan 14th-17th in Las Vegas, NV, USA. His paper entitled “A QoS based call admission control and resource allocation mechanism for LTE femtocell deployment” was awarded overall best paper. Congratulation to Cristian and the FAME team.

Patrick McDonagh presented at the 14th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC 2012). The conference was held from October 3rd – 6th 2011 in Brest, France. He was awarded Best Paper at the conference. Congratulations to Patrick and the FAME team.
